Business papers, 1766-1869, of Boston merchant and textile manufacturer Patrick Tracy Jackson and his father Jonathan Jackson, as well as estate papers, including those of Francis Cabot Lowell. Jonathan Jackson business papers consist of account books of the partnerships he undertook as a Newburyport merchant, including Jackson & Bromfield; Jackson, Tracy, & Tracy; and Jackson & Higginson. His partners included John Bromfield, John Tracy, Nathaniel Tracy, and Stephen Higginson. Account books kept by Jackson, Tracy, & Tracy reflect the impact of the Revolution on trade; include privateering and distill house accounts; and contain ships' accounts, including the brigs Elizabeth, Hibernia, and Pallas, and the sloops Mermaid, Conway, and Lively. Jonathan Jackson (June 4, 1743 – March 5, 1810) was an American merchant from Newburyport, Massachusetts. He was a delegate for Massachusetts in the Continental Congress. Born in Boston in the Province of Massachusetts Bay, Jackson pursued classical studies, graduating from Harvard College before engaging in mercantile pursuits in Newburyport.
